Curiosities
Start at covered market in Beaumont: royal bastide (XIIIth century), holiday village, race track, fortified church, covered market (XIVth century), half-timbered houses, birthplace of Pierre Fermat, famous mathematical genius born in the XVIIth century (tower and permanent exhibition). GAEC du Blanc: traditional garlic drier, sale of garlic plaits and baskets.
Follow directions to Lavit . Scenery. Go up the hill, then turn right and take the Gensac direction. Typical Lomagne farm. "Haumont" private chateau of XVIIIth century. Follow directions to Auvillar. Gorgeous farm in «Bélard». Go straight on until you get to a crossroads and then take the D25 road towards Gensac. Hazelnut trees. Gensac: church of XIXth century, lake scenery. Drive through the village. Hazelnut trees fields. dovecote. Go past «Armand» take the white way on your left (be careful, no signs). Gensac lake: fishing, picnic, walks, leisure (bathing forbidden). Drive back to the village. At the Give Way sign go straight on and follow the signs «Produits de la ferme». Up of the hill, turn left and then follow the signs Ferme de Peyret: visit of the goat breeding farm. Sale of goat cheese, pork, cakes... Afternnon snacks by appointment. Walk tour.

When leaving the farm, turn left left until you get to the Give Way sign. Twin dovecotes farm. Turn left. Typical farm. At the fork turn left until you get to the next stop sign. Take the D3 road and follow directions to Lavit (on your right). When you get to the 3rd crossroads turn left and follow the signs «Tradition foie gras, Ferme de Mounet»: traditional breeding of geese and ducks, sale of foie gras, confit and precooked dishes (in the afternoons only). Go back to the crossroads and turn left until you get to Lavit: Eiffel style covered market, restored church of the XVIth century, Maison de la Lomagne (permanent exhibition), hiking trail.
Follow directions to Montgaillard. Beautiful half-timbered house with dovecote on your right. At the first crossroads turn left and take the Casteron direction, then follow the signs «Produit de la ferme». Remains of an ancient mill. Scenery. Typical Lomagne farm. On your left B&B «Ferme de Floris». Start Lakes walking trail. When leaving Floris farm, turn left until you get to a crossroads, then turn left again and go straight on. Scenery. At the crossroads go straight on until you get to Esparsac: gothic church of XVIth century, garlic driers, petanque, walk tours, scenery. Go along the right side of the church and go down the hill until you get to Beaumont. Exceptional viewpoint over Beaumont and the Lomagne little valleys. |
