White garlic tour

This tour takes you directly to the garlic producers and to typical Lomagne farms.

Garlic cultivation in Lomagne, one of its principlel richness, began in he XIIIth century and today 550 farms are growing 1300 Ha aproximately.

Curiosities

Start at covered market in Beaumont: royal bastide (XIIIth century), holiday village, race track, fortified church, covered market (XIVth century), half-timbered houses, birthplace of Pierre Fermat, famous mathematical genius born in the XVIIth century (tower and permanent exhibition). GAEC du Blanc: traditional garlic drier, sale of garlic.

Take Auch direction.  At the roundabout go straight down towards Lamothe-Cumont.  Landscapes and dovecote at «Peyrère». Lamothe-Cumont: classified as a National "village in bloom", well, "travail" (machine used for shoeing and mating horses).  Park your car in front of the church (XXth century). Go past the town hall and take the path until you get to a gorgeous half-timbered house.  Shaded area and unique viewpoint over the Lomagne and the Pyrenees.  Go down until you get to the church and turn left; then turn right towards «Enguis». On your left you can see a farm-dovecote.  At the Give Way sign, turn left.

Dovecote on your right.  Go up towards Cumont.  Go to the church (XIXth century).  Viewpoint over a traditional garlic drier and over a dovecote.  Go down on your left and at the crossroads turn left again. Viewpoint over the Château des Fours (private castle from XIIIth century). At the crossroads, turn right onto D18 road.  Garlic drier on your right.  Go straight on until you get to a crossroads and turn left towards Marignac.

Marignac: garlic drier, "travail", walking.  At the crossroads if the village turn left onto D928 road.  Scenery.  Typical Lomagne farm at «Encompere».  At the Give Way sign, continue on the D928, towards Gimat.  Gimat: Stud farm (French trotteurs'breeding), XIXth century church.  Go through the village and take Auterive direction on your right.  Causeway of Gimat Mill with gorgeous magnolia.

At the Give Way sign go towards Auterive.  On your left Poney Club: classes and rides.  When leaving the Poney Club turn left and then (take care!) take the first turning on your right.

Woody landscapes and lakes among small valleys.  At the crossroads take the first turning on the left.  Typical Lomagne farms.  At the crossroads, go straight on.  At the Give Way sign, go into the typical village of Faudoas: half-timbered houses, XIXth century houses.  Take the same road again to leave the village.  Turn right and follow the road until you get to Goas.  Follow the sign «Produit de la ferme».  «Grande Borde» farm: visit the canning factory, sale of garlic, foie gras, confits, etc. and demonstration of garlic peeling and plaiting (by appointment).

Take the road to Toulouse and follow Le Causé direction on your right .  Le Causé: half timbered houses, XVIIth century church, garlic driers.  At the village roundabout follow directions to Toulouse and, be careful!, at the crossroads turn right and follow the signs "Circuit des saveurs".   Unique scenery.  At the stop sign turn left and follow the signs «Tradition foie gras, Ferme d'En Méric». «Ferme d'En Méric»: farm visit and sale of duck and goose products in a dovecote.  Go past the farm, go straight on.  Go down the hill and turn right.  Follow the road until you get to Beaumont.   Scenery and typical farms.  Magnificient view of Beaumont. Dovecote d' «En Gaillard»: quadrangular dovecote over arcades.
