History of Asques
The origin of this name is unknown, the word coming probably from a pre-Latin term.
This town is made up by the union of two ancient parishes: Asques and Doazac. It used to be the location of a lordship belonging to different families through the centuries: the Agra (13th), the Grossolles (15th), Esparbès de Lussan (17th) and Beauquesne (18th).
There were two medieval castles in this town. The lordship of Doazac had always been under the control of Asques. Raymond de Grossolles signed the Land Charter on June the 7th 1512.
Pottery seemed to have developed significantly in the area from the 16th to the 18th century.
