The unemployment rate is in the order of 10,7% in 1999 (similar to the National average), the level having risen by more than 34% between 1990 and 1999. The young under 24 years are the group more affected by the unemployment (28,5%).
Since 2002, job-seekers numbers have stabilised for the over 50's and fallen for the under 25 years olds. This situation appears favourable for an economic recovery in the area which would mean, above all, a trump card for the developement of new or already existing activities.
